Beyond the Bin: Sandy Springs Shows Up and Shows Out
Congratulations, Sandy Springs—our first-ever Beyond the Bin bulk recycling event was a smash hit!
On April 26, we watched our city come together to make a powerful statement: Sandy Springs cares about community, sustainability and showing up for one another. From the steady stream of cars to the smiles from volunteers, the energy behind this event was real—and we couldn’t be more grateful.
Why We Came Together
We launched Beyond the Bin in the spirit of Earth Day, with one goal: to give residents a convenient, community-centered way to recycle bulk items and keep them out of landfills. At Sandy Springs Together, we believe in a cleaner, greener city—and that starts with giving neighbors real options and real support.
Sustainability takes all of us. And last weekend, Sandy Springs proved it’s more than up for the challenge.
By the Numbers
🚗 175 cars registered—and several came back with second loads
👐 24 volunteers from SST, Leadership Perimeter and Keep North Fulton Beautiful
♻️ Countless pounds of recyclables sorted, saved and responsibly processed
From refrigerators to rusty grills, residents rolled up with everything imaginable. And thanks to our volunteers and partner organizations, they rolled away knowing they’d made a difference.
From the minute the gates opened, families were ready—with truck beds full, trunks packed and grateful words to share.
Many recognized Sandy Springs Together from our emails and Facebook posts. One neighbor told us, “I get your emails—thank you for all you’re doing for our city!” Others thanked us for helping them get rid of items they’d held onto for years, just waiting for a moment like this.
Our volunteers were the heart of the operation—directing traffic, lifting heavy items, checking people in and doing it all with energy and kindness. We even had a few attendees so enthusiastic, they left, loaded up again and came back for round two.
Partners in Recycling
Beyond the Bin was powered by collaboration.
We’re proud to have worked alongside Leadership Perimeter, Keep North Fulton Beautiful, Sandy Springs United Methodist Church and the City of Sandy Springs, including local police officers who helped manage traffic and keep everyone safe.
Thanks to that team effort—and leadership from Melanie Couchman, Ryder Leary and Rosalyn Putnam —this event delivered real results for our community.
Together, we amplified our impact; thank You, Sandy Springs We couldn’t have done this without you. Thank you for showing up, speaking up and stepping up.
We can’t wait to do it again next year—because when it comes to taking care of our city, Sandy Springs shows up.
Let’s keep building the future we all deserve.
